My apartment circa 1997, and a loveseat on the curb this week in yesterday's post. What are the odds it's the same one? Added factor – I gave it to Dan in 1998, he lived a couple of minutes away from where this is today, and this location is a house with an endless stream of hoarded furniture getting put on the curb.

I got up and made Tommy a bagel sandwich as a surprise gesture and reminder of something I did for many years prior. I enjoyed a great walk with Lauren. Fun, light-hearted, talkative. Touched on her mom a few times but she didn't express anything concerning to me, emotionally. We're going to take dinner to her tomorrow PM, that'll be good. I had a good walk back and decided on my next BIG "Atomic Habit" undertaking. Work full time. That is to say, with the new responsibilities looming, I have to stop distractions and deviations from my role going forward. It's challenging. I've become accustomed to far greater flexibility and being able to 'dial it in so to speak. But today I decided that was the right call to make. It also sends a message to my kids and especially Tommy. He even commented on it tonight, being that we are on parallel tracks to hunker down and be engaged. I did well staying present, and at the end of the day, it felt like a full workday. I felt satisfied and accomplished. Jen's friend Cindy came over tonight after I made dinner and they visited while I ran some errands. I have to start prioritizing my time now that I'm working to "work during work hours". I ended the day checking in on my friend whose husband died a few weeks ago, and they're dealing with such a clusterfuck of drama throughout this. What a hard thing to endure. What a reminder, too.
