RIP JBG

Sadly, tragically, and stupidly, this story ended Monday when Julie took her own life. I'm stunned, furious, and confused as hell. The one take away, for me, of any value, is the way her experience has impacted how I look at my own kids each day, and how I approach their high school years and all that comes with it. https://maccupcake.com/2018/08/15/final-post/?fbclid=IwAR2miu3n1nznuWWvR62g7m9JwjqUNkERPvdT0_0OPr_ingcj9N8wgDMoMAA

Thew Had To Be There

Back in the 2000's, as Apple struggled to turn around and resurrect the sinking ship, the OSX Launch event was a landmark moment. Those of us tied in some way to the corporate effort attended a high-end celebration at Moffett Field, inside the large hanger that's now just a skeletal remain. It was an epic evening and all I could do to resist sneaking past the roped off access to the framework stairwells and ascend to the top. Something I would still love the opportunity to do.

Freediving Catalina

My son's back from 1 week on Catalina, and the excitement he has shared about the things he saw and did there makes it worth every penny!

ELO

Finally, some 40+ years later, I got to see Jeff Lynne"s ELO perform live. I was introduced to Electric light Orchestra by Sally Jaramillo. In my sophomore year of high school. She loved ELO and convince me to buy "OlΓ© ELO". I subsequently wore that record down, and others to follow including "Face the Music" and "El Dorado". Then came their breakthrough "A New World Record" and the diverse and spanning "Out of the blue". I would crank the volume up with my headphones on in my bedroom while scouring the liner notes and cover art. ELO was a milestone of my youth.
