All is Quiet On New Years Day

Welcome friends to the year 2000. No, not the new Millennium, just the year 2000. You see, if you're not aware of it yet, it's not the new Millennium until 2001. You can read all about it here. But once the media ramped up, there was no point in expecting intelligence to play a roll in public opinion.

So where were you at New Years Eve? After all the hype and build up, there was no interest for me in being out amongst the manic masses. The additional thought of being away from home and having to possibly manage any power outages or other concerns made staying home an appealing option, and from the discussions with many friends, we were not the only one's doing so, and found comfort as we sat cross legged on the kitchen floor, surrounded by canned food, bottled water, candles and munitions. OK, that last part was an exaggeration, we just stayed home with munchies and champagne.

But as the evening progressed and reports from across the globe spread news of, well, no news, the celebrations looked like a great deal of fun. Were it not for having already settled in, with food and drink for the evening, and the thought of there just being so many more people out for this New Year than prior one's, we'd have ventured out. We'll do it next year, on the start of the true Millennium.

As the starting point that New Years can be, when resolutions are made to dedicate oneself to a change or goal, I've chosen to pick up where I've left off with this website. It's been dormant for some time, and I'm embarrassed by how little I've done in the past six months. Yes, I've been busy with work, my re:Ware side business, a few other major projects and time with my wife, but I've let my interest in writing slip further than I had intended. Much of the motivation in this website was to focus time writing about anything and everything that meant something to me. That's still the case, there's still a massive list of subject matter I want to address, and now seems as good a time as any to get back on track.

My new goal is to write at least once a week, publishing a new page every Monday. It might be a very personal discussion of deep emotional concerns, a soap box tirade against social conditioning and pretentious value systems, a rambling diary entry on the weeks activities or just a page filled with great jokes or noteworthy web sites.

I hope to have 52 new entries here at this same time next year. If I fall behind, your nudge would be welcome.

I will begin again, I will begin again And maybe the time is right maybe tonight
