This should not be complicated at all. We live in a society. Our society has rules. Etiquette, common sense, consideration, etc. You don't cut people off at intersections, you don't play your music loud in my neighborhood, you don't steal, whether it's a newspaper from someone's front yard or their life savings in an internet scam. You don't fart in an elevator (occupied or not). You drive calmly and safely. You don't swear, or at least if you're going to, you watch for children or other people and give consideration to what might be offensive.
How is it this is difficult? I think it's only difficult because we foster our individuality so much so that many people become whiny entitled jerks who think the world revolves around them, instead of recognizing that we are all part of a shared existence, one we can improve or destroy based on our own behavior, as individuals AND as a group.
We are a society. We've set rules. If you don't want to play by the rules, get the hell out or shut up and recognize the benefits of being part of a collective group of people all trying to respect each other, and treat each other like they want to be treated themselves.
As a culture and a society, we seem to have really lost sight of this. It's simple, is it not?
