Scout and About
I left work early yesterday in order to snag the family and run over to a local park, kicking off something for my son that my father did for me as a child. Boy Scouts. At his young age it's really Cub Scouts, but it's the start of something that has deep historical meaning for me, being the opportunity to connect as father and son. My own involvement in the organization waned after moving to the bay area and not wanting to battle the acceptance process as the new kid in school as well as scouts, but I have only the best memories of my fathers involvement, our crafts and camping trips, and everything that went with it. As sappy as it might seem this is something I've been committed and looking forward to since the day he was born. Like it was for me it'll likely not be something he fully understands or comprehends until I'm long gone, but he will benefit from it greatly. Almost as much as I will.
